Cosmetology

Our cosmetology classes teach Future Professionals to be proficient in design, cutting, coloring, multicultural techniques, makeup, fashion trends, manicuring, and the art of hairdressing. The curriculum involves 1200 hours to satisfy Florida requirements.

Barbering

Our barbering classes teach Future Professionals to be proficient in Florida Law, Safety, Sanitation and Sterilization, Hair Structure and Chemistry, Haircutting/Hairstyles, Shampooing, Shaves/Mustache/Beard, and Chemical Services. The curriculum involves 1200 hours to satisfy Florida requirements.

Nail Technician

The Nail Technician classes will teach students how to best work on painting and styling nails. While working through this course students will get to work on real hands as they team up in class and practice the skills they learn in lecture. That way by the time they graduate they know what it will be like to work with a real client instead of just a hand. The curriculum involves 240 hours to satisfy Florida requirements.

DEFINITION OF CLOCK HOURS

A “clock hour” means a period of 60 minutes with a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction in the presence of an instructor.

TECHNIQUES AND METHODS

The 1200 Hour Cosmetology/Barbering education and 240 Hour Nail Technician education are provided through a sequential set of learning steps, which address specific tasks necessary for State Board Preparation, graduation, and job entry-level skills. Each student will receive instruction that relates to the performance of useful, creative, and productive career-oriented activities.

    The Barbering Program teaches the barber to go beyond the client’s expectation. This program features hair cutting, style, chemical work (including coloring and perms), men’s shaving and grooming, along with hairpiece design. (1200 Clock Hours)
    The course numbering system uses a five or six-digit alphanumeric identifier. The prefixes are characters that represent the type of course and the suffixes are numbers that represent the sequence in which they are taught.

    The Cosmetology Program will equip students with the necessary tools to be successful regardless of the environment. This program will prepare you to work in fast-paced upscale salons, hair shows, work with celebrities, and much more. (1200 Clock Hours)

    The Nail Technician program will equip students in preparation to be successful nail technicians of hands and feet. The curriculum involves 240 hours to satisfy Florida State requirements to become a Licensed Nail Specialist.

    Affinity Hair Academy maintains a Job Placement Assistance service to assist graduates. We furnish the names and addresses of potential employers and career opportunities. Inquiries from other agencies in regard to job placement assistance will be posted in the student break room and classroom to assist our graduates. The academy will assist graduates with Job Placement Assistance to the best of our ability; however, we do not guarantee employment.. There is no additional charge for Job Placement Assistance.
